History
Pastor Carter was shepherding Second
Baptist Church in New London, Ohio when God spoke to him
that his work was finished there after 5 years of labor in
2004. After wrestling with this decision Pastor Carter was
obedient in passing the baton.
After much prayer God directed him to assist another Pastor
(Dr. Walter Jordan II – Greater St. John COGIC) until he
receives his next marching orders.
Pastor Carter worked faithfully in the leadership of that
ministry until God spoke to him in the winter of 2005. God
spoke to Pastor Carter as he was sitting in service, “I want
you to plant my church.”
Pastor Carter immediately called his mother (Prayer Warrior)
Brenda Carter to go on a 40 day prayer and fast, to make
sure the call was clear. After coming out of these 40 days
of being in the presence of God, Pastor Carter was clear
that he was supposed to plant the church. It was to be named
Spirit and Truth Christian Center (nondenominational) with
an emphasis on Luke 10:33-34.
With earthly wisdom from his Pastor, William Morris Jr. of
the Shiloh Full Gospel Baptist Church, Pastor Carter then
proceeded to start organizing and strategizing.
Youth for Christ executive director Dan McLaughlin was
contacted to allow Pastor Carter to start Bible Study with a
few families at a Church Building YFC had in February of
2006 and it was granted. The membership began to grow and a
worship service was implemented in June of 2006.
Overseer Renae Collins and the Full Gospel Baptist Church
Fellowship were called in to install Elder Tommie D. Carter
as the Pastor/Founder in October of 2006. The FGBCF served
as a covering for the ministry until God showed Pastor
Carter what direction he would send the ministry.
God then gave Pastor Carter revelation that the church
building that they were in was not a temporary place, but
was the place where God was going operate from known as
STCC. Pastor and the congregation began to pray and fast for
building and then God gave Pastor Carter revelation for the
congregation to walk around the building for six weeks and
on the seventh week make a loud shout to claim the building.
Youth for Christ in changing leadership sold the property to
STCC through there real estate broker in December of 2006.
Membership began to grow, souls were saved, rededication and
regeneration happened for many.
